Company history
Jérôme Petit interest in natural products comes from his childhood experience with allergies and eczema. Almost every single remedy was tried from conventional medicine to spiritual healers, curative spa waters and injections with some success. The condition always returned. At 15, his health improved with the discovery of chemical-free products. His father painted his room with Biofa natural paint and it made a vast difference to his skin condition and provided real relief.
Natural products can improve eczema and allergies because they are free from toxic chemicals. Indeed, conventional (chemical) paints, even dry, still give off volatile fumes for several years. In the seventies only a few people were aware of this effect. Being around the pots of paints as a child in the family paint - merchant business was instrumental in causing Jerome’s condition to flare.
His health progressed even more when his Mother discovered a lotion that that he could apply to his skin that was made of completely natural ingredients. This meant that Jérôme could stop using prescribed petro-chemical based steroid creams. He became intrigued by the power of plants and this developed into a passion to understand their healing and hypo-allergenic properties.
Our aim
Villa Natura Ltd opened in the summer of 2002. Since then, we have grown into becoming the importer of the natural paint BIOFA and the people behind the award wining brand natura organics.
Our aim is simple, do our bit for our planet as well as the consumer’s quality of life by offering natural products well packaged, with a great ethic at a competitive price. We also endeavour to provide a great customer care.
At Villa Natura, we have a reputation for giving a lot of support and information. We believe the market is so small, we are all here to grow the market and give the consumer objective information regarding out natural paint or our popular range natura organics.
Profile of Villa Natura as an environmentally aware company
In the 21st century, environmental issues are part of the complexities of running a successful business. At Villa Natura we have naturally taken these issues as the bedrock of the company. We reuse, recycle and watch our CO2 output. For example, every week, we collect from local shop, boxes, packaging to be used for our mail order or to send orders to our distributors. Simple actions such as switching off our screens at night, shredding the paper for packaging purpose or not switching the light on when the sun is shining are some of the action we are taking every day.
The company was founded on the belief that the products that we import should be of the highest quality; the definition of quality meaning both production values of our suppliers and the interaction of the manufacturing process with the environment as well as the performance of the finished product.
Company philosophy
Our Company is based on a simple fact, people are sick. We mean that more and more of us become allergic to pretty much everything and it is mainly due to all the toxic products we are eating, putting on our skin (your favourite skin care) and breathing. Our immune system is weakened and we therefore become more fragile to pollutants and other airborne factors.
Well, let’s look at the facts: The UK is the country spending the most on DIY in Europe. The UK also has the worse track record for asthma in Europe. Is it a coincidence? We don’t think so. Our houses are more polluted than if you were to stand next to a busy motorway.
At the same time, modern toiletry and cosmetics are produced with chemicals for which 60% of that goes directly into our blood stream. Sadly, the rate of breast cancer and immune diseases are increasing.
We have recognised those facts and want to offer the consumer a real alternative to the chemical cocktail we are being forced into using.
By making a metaphor, you can understand better our idea:
Our philosophy is based on the ‘three skin concept’; the word “skin” is of course a metaphor and is not physically a skin made of human tissue.
The Inner Skin: our internal system.
We can look after our ‘inner skin’ by maintaining a healthy and organic diet as far as possible
The second Skin: the skin of our body.
We can look after our body, face and hair using natural and or organic body care, which means free from toxic chemicals.
The third skin: Our close environment (office, house, etc):
We can look after the ‘environmental’ skin that surrounds us every day when we are inside our homes and offices by using natural paints and natural household products. We spend 90% of our lives inside buildings and not outdoors, so if these could be as natural and toxic free as we try to make our diets we would feel much better for it. We would, in the mean time, contribute towards saving our planet and our future.
